Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel was born on August 19, 1883 and died January 10, 1971. She was well known for her famous quotes, and making everything look FABULOUS! A little known fact about this fashionista is there was a misspelling on her birth certificate spelling her last name: Chansel, which made tracing her roots close to impossible for biographers. Coco's parents were very poor. In 1895, when she was 12 years old, Chanel's mother died of tuberculosis and her father left the family a short time later because he needed to work to raise his children.
Coco Chanel had a hard life, but until this day, she is still known as the most famous fashion inspiration ever.
